Travel Retail Domodedovo (TRD), a joint venture between Gebr Heinemann and its Russian partner Greenway, has won the tender to become the exclusive duty-free operator for the new Terminal 2 (T2) facility at Moscow Domodedovo Airport in Russia.
The T2 duty-free plaza will cover a total area of 7,000m² (75,000ft²) and will include a 4,000m² (43,000ft²) walk-through store located directly behind the security checkpoint. The area is scheduled to open in June 2018 ahead of the FIFA World Cup soccer championships in Russia.
Oleg Zhytomyrsky, director sales, Russia/ Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Gebr Heinemann, said, “Over the years, TRD has established itself as a reliable and competent duty-free operator, and we will present a comprehensive and varied range of duty-free products to passengers at Domodedovo Airport. We are delighted at winning this tender, which is a great confirmation of our entrepreneurial commitment in Russia.”
TRD currently operates two duty-free and three duty-paid stores in Terminal 1 (T1) at Domodedovo Airport, which will become the domestic terminal once T2 is complete. All international flights will operate from T2.
