Air transport IT provider SITA has deployed its AirportHub shared connectivity platform at Jacksons International Airport in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. The new solution provides airlines, ground handlers and other airport tenants with secure and reliable bandwidth, including wireless connectivity to access off-airport applications.
SITA AirportHub at Jacksons Airport is connected by dual international private circuits to Australia, ensuring secure international connectivity into SITA’s global network. This resilient, shared infrastructure solution enhances communications at the airport by greatly minimizing the likelihood of network isolation.
Richard Yopo, managing director and CEO, National Airports Corporation, the airport operator, said, “National Airport Corporation is proud to become the world’s latest operator of SITA’s AirportHub IT system. This represents another significant step in the process of upgrading the airport’s capabilities and helping to attract more international and domestic services to Papua New Guinea’s major airport hub.”
Sumesh Patel, president of Asia-Pacific at SITA, said, “SITA’s investment in AirportHub infrastructure over the past few years has been of huge benefit to the entire air transport community. It makes opening new routes at airports much quicker and easier for airlines. When they are connecting their systems at an airport they can now do so within a matter of weeks not months. This streamlined approach is efficient and cost-effective.”
SITA AirportHub is currently operational at more than 440 airports and provides 7,000 customer connections around the world.
