Macau International Airport Company Limited, the operator of Macau International Airport in China, has completed its new North Extension program, which will add more than 14,000m² (150,000ft²) to the main terminal.
The new extension will increase the terminal’s capacity to handle 7.8 million passengers annually thanks to an additional boarding bridge and four remote boarding gates. Other upgrades include a new baggage-handling system in arrivals and several additional boarding counters.
Macau Airport will experience a 5% increase in daily passenger volumes during the first five days of the Chinese New Year and has increased the space in its security check area and hired additional security staff to help cope with the influx.
