Robert Cole is to return to the board of Perth Airport as an independent non-executive director and chair. The board has thanked Clive Appleton for his service as acting chair over the past five months.
Cole’s previous tenure
Cole previously served as an independent non-executive director from January 2023 and subsequently as chair from March 2023. He resigned from these roles in late 2024 to focus on his recovery from health issues. Cole has now returned to full health and has been reappointed by the board to his Perth Airport roles, commencing in April 2025.
During his previous time as chair, Perth Airport completed its post-pandemic rebound to reportedly achieve unprecedented passenger numbers and seal a commercial agreement with the Qantas Group.
The future of Perth Airport
Cole’s reappointment is expected to strengthen the board as Perth Airport progresses work on its next wave of major infrastructure projects that will change the face of the airport.
