Construction firm McAleer and Rushe has been awarded a £26m (US$38m) contract by property developers Urban&Civic to design and build the new Hampton by Hilton hotel at London Stansted Airport. Urban&Civic acquired the two-acre site from the property division of Manchester Airports Group (MAG), the owner and operator of Stansted Airport.
The new eight-story 357-bed hotel will have direct access to the airport’s terminal and will become the operator’s largest Hampton by Hilton hotel in Europe. The hotel forms part of MAG’s £260m (US$392m) investment plan to attract more passengers, airlines and long-haul services to London Stansted.
Peter Devlin, contracts director, McAleer and Rushe, said, “McAleer and Rushe has established itself as the ‘go-to’ contractor for airport hotels because of our ability to provide design-led solutions for challenging locations. We look forward to building a long-term relationship with Urban&Civic and are very pleased to continue our on-going partnership with Hilton.”
