Passenger Terminal Expo – meet over 300 exhibitors
At this year’s expo, visitors will have an opportunity to discover all the latest products and technologies available within the industry. Exhibitors at the free-to-attend exhibition will showcase a broad range of technology and solutions, including baggage handling solutions, self-check-in systems, retrofit self-bag-drop solutions and multibiometric recognition technology – to name just a few of the technologies that will be on show this year! Visitors will be able to reconnect with existing suppliers while also forging partnerships with new ones.
Leading companies on the exhibition floor will include SITA, host airport authority Fraport, Siemens, Collins Aerospace and Vanderlande. Early exhibitor news ahead of the event includes details on Antibacterial seating for airport waiting areas, from Poltrona Frau; a vertiport management system from Firstco and a new airport intelligence solution using IoT and computer vision, from Acorel.
Air Tech Italy, the trade association grouping the leading Italian providers of airport and airline solutions, will showcase how its members are addressing the airport’s transformation to become truly passenger-centric.
At Passenger Terminal Expo, Air Tech Italy members A-ICE, Datalogic, Engineering Ingegneria Informatica, Ewo, Gilardoni, Informa Sistemi, Italcer, Mobimesh, Naitec, One Works, Reco 3.26 and Tecno will jointly showcase the full passenger journey – from arriving at the airport and understanding where they need to go, to a hassle-free biometric ID check, getting a boarding pass, passing through security, and then moving to the airport facilities where they can relax and shop and benefit from a great entertainment offer while waiting comfortably to be called to the gate.
Xovis will also present its machine-learning-based queue detection solution Aero Queue Detection (AQD), an in-terminal analytics solution AQD designed for airports’ most complex and dynamic queuing situations. Aero provides operators with the objective data they need to make better decisions faster. The cloud-native solution also reduces time spent on system upkeep and limits space dedicated to on-premises data-management resources.
Arconas will debut Avro Wood Bench, the newest addition to its Avro seating ecosystem. Designed by Pearson Lloyd, this bench has been designed to bring the warmth of inviting wood to complement any environment and integrates with any of Avro’s other seating options or configurations, thanks to its universal beam system. The company’s products, crafted with sustainable materials and processes, reflect its mission to support a longer use cycle, making them a timeless choice for airports.
Vision-Box will exhibit its Free Flow concept at the expo. The technology eliminates traditional control barriers to enable seamless, contactless travel. Free Flow replaces narrow access controls with smart, wider corridors equipped with AI-based image processing and tracking technology. By combining smartphone biometric registration via Vision-Box’s Seamless Mobile, advanced camera systems and intuitive passenger guidance configurations, Free Flow ensures a smoother passenger experience. Passengers can now arrive at the airport pre-cleared for their journeys, resulting in significantly reduced queuing times and a smoother travel experience.
Cognitec will showcase the operating features and matching accuracy of its FaceVACS-Entry technology. The device quickly takes biometric photos and enables their comparison against facial images retrieved from ID documents or databases. The process also includes presentation attack detection to ensure a live person interacts with the device. The slim, lightweight device fits wide-ranging installation scenarios including e-gates, desks, kiosks, free-standing pillars and border-control booths. Instant camera positioning, active lighting and responsive user guidance lead to optimal capturing conditions, accurate person authentication results and fast processing times.
Visitors to booth A52 at this year’s Passenger Terminal Expo will discover the latest generation of the company’s Penta Scanner family. The Penta Scanner 4X’s scanning technology delivers images with a resolution of up to 900dpi. The higher resolution enables the user to identify abnormalities in the document more quickly, which creates additional security when verifying the authenticity of the identity document that has been presented. The new and unique form factor simplifies its use – the housing has been optimized to be equally well suited for desktop use and integration in existing environments.
Amorph Systems will reveal the updated version of the Amorph lidar solution for passenger tracking and line management, which has been launched as Amorph.senses. Since it was first demonstrated at Passenger Terminal Expo 2022 in Paris, France, the solution has evolved and has been deployed for additional uses including retail effectiveness analysis, IATA LoS monitoring, intrusion detection and monitoring adherence to security processes. Key new features include a simulation-based implementation-planning tool and a user interface enabling customers to independently manage frequent changes in the layout of monitored areas. The user reconfigurability is important because up-to-date layout data ensures accurate monitoring results and avoids the delays and/or costs associated with changes that must be made by vendors.
Hamad International Airport (DOH) will detail the multiple wayfinding solutions it has introduced to simplify how passengers move from one place to another. Most recently, the airport expanded this service by incorporating QR codes and digital devices across multiple touchpoints in the airport, where passengers are offered a variety of wayfinding solutions. The digital devices introduced by the airport are located at Orchard and the North Plaza and include navigation solutions and information related to retail and F&B offers, flights, attractions and more. Scan & Go, an industry-first adoption of QR codes for wayfinding solutions at scale, has been integrated into the devices as well as into the FIDS screens throughout the terminal.
Passenger Terminal Conference – hear from over 450 expert speakers
“This year’s conference has one of our best-ever line-ups of speakers and topics; there really is something for everyone. We’re continually updating the program to make it a valuable and memorable experience for all”
Janine McEvilly, conference director, PTE
