London Gatwick Airport has received the Gold Standard award from Investors in People (IiP), a UK government body that provides accreditation to businesses that adhere to its best practice criteria.
The airport was granted the award after it met 168 of the 188 evidence requirements set forth by IiP, following 119 interviews with staff at all levels of the business. Just over 1,000 companies have achieved the IiP Gold Standard in the UK.
Some of the standout areas for the airport included positive examples of leadership, good mechanisms to aid effective communication, increasing the number of engagement activities, strong awareness among all staff of London Gatwick’s values, and a passion and commitment to deliver the best experience for passengers.
Darren Hockaday, human resources director for London Gatwick, said, “We are all extremely proud to have achieved the IiP Gold Standard award. While there is always more to do, this accreditation is very encouraging and we will build on it to improve the way we work with our staff even further.
“The people who work at Gatwick are the airport’s most important resource. Only by supporting and encouraging our staff will the airport truly succeed as a business.”
