Hiroki Kitabayashi, director, office of international relations and business development, New Kansai International Airport Company Ltd, will reveal the airport’s plans to upgrade Terminal 2, which is dedicated to serving low-cost carriers.
Titled ‘Drastic challenge for KIX LCCT project’, the presentation will be a key highlight of the dedicated Airport Design, Planning & Development – Middle East & Asia session, which takes place on Wednesday March 16, 2016.
“Airport managers face diverse demands from full-service carriers (FSCs) and low-cost carriers (LCCs),” comments Kitabayashi. “At KIX, in addition to the flagship T1, the LCC-dedicated T2 (LCCT) was opened in 2012 and its expansion is now underway. As a
result of the dramatic growth in the number of foreign tourists traveling to Japan, further terminal (T3) expansion is being considered. In this presentation, the conceptual differences between the duty/tax-free area of T1 and T2 and the plan for T3 will be introduced.”
Last year, as in previous years, the Airport Design, Planning & Development – Middle East & Asia session proved to be one of the most popular, with every seat taken.
