Retail operator Dufry has reaffirmed its presence in Brazil with the renewal of two existing contracts at Tom Jobim International Airport in Rio de Janeiro and Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo.
At Tom Jobim International Airport, the operator RioGaleão extended Dufry’s contract from 2020 until 2023. The new agreement will also see more than 75,000ft² of retail space added to Dufry’s remit, including dedicated Salvatore Ferragamo, Hugo Boss, Michael Kors and Polo Ralph Lauren stores, as well as a new Destination Shop containing a wide variety of retail brands. Dufry’s duty-paid area will also be increased by an additional 15,000ft².
Julían Díaz, CEO of Dufry Group, said, “We are very proud to extend the contracts with RioGaleão and to further expand our presence at Tom Jobim International airport. With these additional spaces and the next generation of store concepts, Dufry has secured its presence in the Brazilian travel retail market. The increased commercial offering and the enlarged number of brands being featured will contribute to drive further growth.”
At Guarulhos International Airport, Dufry extended its agreement for the operation of the duty-free and duty-paid retail spaces until 2032. The new contract will also add 25,000ft² of duty-paid retail space, including a Dufry Shopping megastore in Terminal 2. Dufry also plans to open three new Hudson travel retail concepts at various locations throughout the airport.
Díaz added, “We are very pleased about this new agreement with Guarulhos International, which has been partnering with us since the beginning of their operations in 2012. The extension of the contracts fosters our cooperation with the airport and it is a great platform to further develop the business at this important hub.”
