Vision-Box, a provider of automated border control (ABC) systems, has completed the installation of nine vb i-match eGates in Pier C at Copenhagen Airport in Denmark.
The new solution enables passengers above the age of 18, and in possession of an e-passport, to use self-service biometric identification eGates to expedite the immigration process when arriving from, or departing for, countries outside the Schengen area.
The Vision-Box solution was implemented in partnership with Danish technology developer Biometric Solutions and comprises three eGates for departures, three gates for arrivals and three bidirectional gates to help manage peak passenger volumes. The system uses a software orchestration platform to help border guards identify travelers and provides an overview of each passenger’s entry process, enabling the Danish police to immediately react to forged documents, identity theft and any matches against international watch lists.
Jean-François Lennon, vice president for global business development and sales, Vision-Box, said, “For the very first time, an airport and a border authority together own total flexibility to adjust the throughput of entry and exit points at the border, according to the predicted passenger volume.
“Copenhagen Airport receives millions of passengers per year and has adopted a future-proof solution, perfectly aligned with their improvement strategies on operations, security and efficiency. We’re glad to contribute, together with Biometric Solutions, to the optimization of passenger flows and to the reduction of queues and waiting times, ultimately transforming the experience of the passenger for the better, who will now have time to enjoy one of the largest retail areas in the world.”
Alex Ramskov Johannsen, CEO of Biometric Solutions, said, “Biometric Solutions is proud to help Denmark welcome its visitors with a solution that is based on state-of-the-art, fast, user-friendly technology. Our focus is always to deliver a great experience to both the employees servicing the citizens and to citizens using our solutions. The eGates in Copenhagen Airport connect biometrics, security and convenience for citizens and airport staff in a way that makes it a showcase of the future of border control and, more generally, of intelligent ID control at any kind of gate.”
