Travelers in Houston, Texas, will soon be able to apply for the Transport Security Administration’s (TSA) Pre-Check screening program when a new application center opens later this month at George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
TSA Pre-Check is an expedited screening program that allows travelers to wear their shoes, light outerwear and belt; keep their laptop in its case; and keep 3-1-1 compliant liquids and gels in a carry-on bag, while traveling through security.
The application process requires US citizens and lawful permanent residents to enroll online at tsa.gov and then visit an application center to provide biographic information, fingerprints, valid identity documents, citizenship/immigration documentation and an application fee of US$85 for a five-year membership. The application center will be located pre-security inside the Terminal C baggage claim area and does not require the applicant to be a ticketed passenger.
Once approved, eligible travelers will receive a Known Traveler Number and will have the opportunity to utilize TSA Pre-Check lanes at security checkpoints at more than 160 airports nationwide and 13 airlines including Alaska Airlines, Allegiant Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue Airways, One Jet, Southwest Airlines, Sun Country, United Airlines, WestJet, Virgin America and Air Canada.
Passengers who are eligible for Global Entry Trusted Traveler Program membership will receive TSA Pre-Check with Global Entry membership.
