Retail operator Airmall has opened a new food market concept at Pittsburgh International Airport in Pennsylvania. The Strip Market covers 840ft² of retail space and sells a range of grab-and-go dishes inspired by the city’s Strip District.
The Strip Market offers travelers the experience of the historic neighborhood it’s named after, a narrow strip of land that borders downtown where Pittsburghers shop for locally sourced and specialty foods at an array of grocers, produce stands, meat and fish markets and sidewalk vendors. A mural hung in the new store depicts the Strip District’s rich history.
Grab-and-go options prepared on-site include dishes from local purveyors such as Anthony’s Original Produce, The Bagel Factory, Janoski Farms and Soergel Orchards. Travelers can also grab a cup of Nicholas Coffee or a pre-flight treat from prized snack makers such as Enrico Biscotti, Mac’s Donuts, Sarris Candy, and Snyder of Berlin.
Bob Kerlik, vice president of media relations, said, “Whether a traveler is new to Pittsburgh or proud of their hometown cuisine, The Strip Market offers a true taste of the region. Bringing more of Pittsburgh into the airport is important and travelers will have a great opportunity to experience that with this market.”
