Perth Airport in Australia is to hold a three-day virtual jobs fair for approximately 500 jobs from 30 employers.
The jobs on offer are within the airport’s food and beverage outlets, retail shops, government agencies, security, cleaning services, ground/baggage handling, operations and customer service. The fair will start on September 8 and can be accessed through all devices including laptops, tablets and smartphones. The fair’s virtual setting is intended to have the look and feel of a real event, with the ability to connect from anywhere, and is designed to give job applicants the time and flexibility to explore potential employers, sit in on job information sessions, engage in live chats with employers, lodge CVs and book meetings and job interviews.
Kevin Brown, CEO of Perth Airport, said, “The recruiting push will further strengthen the WA [Western Australia] aviation sector’s recovery. Perth is actually fairly well-positioned, thanks to the fact that we kept the FIFO [fly-in fly-out] sector flying throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. But as we continue to recover, we wanted to reach out to our aviation, retail and government partners to see what we could do together to ensure we have done everything possible to build momentum and support the aviation sector.
“Most people don’t realize that Perth Airport does not employ all of these people. So, we have made it easy by bringing almost 30 airport companies, along with all of the airport jobs, together in an online Jobs Fair that is free and easy to navigate. Flexibility is the key for many job applicants and the airport is a dynamic place to work, whether you’re a student looking for a few hours here and there, a mum or dad looking to work while the kids are at school, or you’re after full-time work.”
