Airline operator United Airlines has opened a new flagship Club lounge in Terminal 7 (T7) at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in California.
The 20,000ft² lounge is one of the airline’s largest and is part of a wider US$570m project to refresh many of its customer-facing spaces in T7 and Concourse 8.
The location features a gourmet kitchen and bar offering; lounge and office seating areas; and bay windows with spectacular views of the airport, the Hollywood Hills and the Los Angles skyline. The design also takes advantage of the Californian weather with a spacious outdoor terrace.
Julia Haywood, executive vice president and chief commercial officer, United, said, “When you think of Los Angeles, you think of glamour and sophistication, and this new United Club certainly reflects that. LAX is a key piece of our global route network, and we’re incredibly proud that it will house one of our finest United Clubs.
“Aesthetically, it’s unlike any other, with panoramic views of the city and an outdoor terrace. These unique amenities – along with fresh food, wine menus, craft cocktails and, most importantly, exceptional service and hospitality for our customers – will elevate the entire experience to something that will truly impress and delight visitors.”
In recent months United has opened a new economy lobby and new baggage claim areas and, in cooperation with the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA), installed a new security checkpoint complete with five state-of-the-art automated screening lanes to modernize LAX’s security experience.
