Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK), the operator of Hong Kong International Airport in China, has selected Aconex’s cloud and mobile collaboration platform for the construction of the airport’s 10-year Three Runway System (3RS) project.
The HK$141.5b (US$18.2bn) 3RS project will see the reclamation of 650 hectares of land north of the existing airport island to support the construction of a 3,800m (12,470ft) runway and a third terminal building.
AAHK will use Aconex as a ‘project communication system’ to connect the entire project team on a single collaboration platform for managing information and processes through all phases of the project lifecycle.
The 3RS project will increase Hong Kong Airport’s capacity by an extra 30 million passenger annually, as forecasted in the HKIA Master Plan 2030. The master plan also accommodates further expansion of the passenger building facilities in the future if required.
Andy Lake, general manager of Asia at Aconex, said, “The 3RS project is a strategic addition to our portfolio of large airport projects around the world. We appreciate the opportunity to support the AAHK and its project team on an environmentally sustainable infrastructure development that will have significant positive impact on the economic and business environment of Hong Kong.”
