Travel food providers SSP has opened a new Starbucks store at Gatwick’s South terminal.
The coffee giant will serve the full range of Starbucks beverages and a custom menu for airport customers, including the recently-launched Breakfast Hot Boxes. Hungry travelers can choose from super scrambled eggs, tomato and spinach or spicy chorizo, or poached egg and potato.
Simon Smith, CEO of SSP, said, “We’re delighted to have been chosen to operate a fantastic new Starbucks coffee shop in the newly developed South Terminal area of Gatwick, and to be building on our successful relationship with one of the UK’s most prestigious airports.”
The new store boasts a design reflecting airport features, with hand-painted artwork on the wall and the shape of the walkways and curved surfaces made to replicate luggage carousels and runways.
There are also digital features to make the most of, including wireless charging zones and free, fast wi-fi.
“Our passengers want fast and reliable services from brands they trust as they travel across the globe, so Starbucks coffee will be very well received,” said Guy Stephenson, Gatwick’s chief commercial officer.
“This opening further adds to the wealth of food and drink choice at Gatwick, with passengers able to have takeaway options from all restaurants or receive their order within 15 minutes when dining in.”
To celebrate the opening, the store will be running special coffee tastings for caffeine-craving customers.
Michael Haley, director of channel licensing for Starbucks Europe, Middle East and Africa, added, “We are thrilled to open our new store at Gatwick South, designed with the travelling customer in mind.”
