Politicians flying into Canberra for the next fortnight’s parliamentary sittings will be reminded by signs around the airport that the equality campaign has the support of two thirds of Australians.
Electronic and 3D message boards on why marriage equality matters will greet travelers from March 19-31.
Stephen Byron, Canberra Airport’s managing director, said, “This is the second year that Canberra Airport has stood behind the quality campaign and we will continue to do so until every Australian is treated equal under the law.
“The right to marry is pivotal to the wellbeing and happiness of LGBTI Australians who just want to get on with their lives. It matters to their families, their friends and their colleagues.
“Now is the time for our federal politicians to show leadership and get on with the job of ensuring every Australian is treated equally. Our campaign will remind MPs every time they travel through the airport that marriage equality is a straightforward reform that allows every Australian the same opportunities in life.”
