Istanbul Airport (IGA) has announced the launch of a privilege service for passengers aged 65+ who are most affected by Covid-19. Under the scheme, eligible passengers will benefit from its IGA Pass, as well as pharmacy services, either for free or at a discount until December 31, 2020. The deal will also include services offered by Turkish Airlines.
The airport’s operators say the offer will include access to its IGA Fast Track and IGA Buggy services free of charge during the pandemic. Additionally, passengers will be entitled to a 35% discount on access to its meet and greet, lounge and sleep pod facilities. This will be publicized with the slogan ‘65+ pays only 65%’.
The airport has also partnered with Şafak Health Group to offer a 20% discount on private medical examination fees, along with free-of-charge transport for passengers to their boarding gate with a medical car, accompanied by a physician. Moreover, certain pharmacy services such as handling of medications and blood pressure measurement are now furnished free of charge.
Commenting on the privileged services, Kadri Samsunlu, CEO and Director General at IGA Airport Operation Inc, explained. “Elderly people aged 65 years and over are of great value to us. By decision of our government, people of this age group were locked down in their homes for some time to protect their health during the pandemic. In a sense, it is our duty to protect them and make life easier for them.”
