In the post-Covid-19 world of mass transportation, many organizations are prioritizing going contactless, particularly airport operators. In the case of Hyderabad International Airport (GHAIL) in India, one of the steps it has taken is to scale up its contactless parking systems.
The expansion of its NETC (National Electronic Toll Collection) FASTag Car Parking system, in collaboration with NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India), will now see the acceptance of 10 NETC FASTag Issuer banks and is scheduled to go live, with other issuer banks, in the coming weeks.
Following this development, Hyderabad said it now offers India’s first and only fully contactless airport car parking experience for passengers and visitors.
Pradeep Panicker, CEO, GHIAL, said, “Thanks to the collaboration with NPCI and NETC, we have now made our car parking fully compatible with any NETC FASTag Issuing Banks in India. We have tested first with ICICI Bank and [are] now opening up to all the balance issuers.”
The NETC FASTag solution is based on a simple-to-use, reloadable electronic RFID tag which enables the automatic deduction of applicable parking charges when a passenger drives through the parking lot without stopping to make a cash transaction.
