Airports Council International (ACI) World has published guidance to help airports restart operations.
ACI’s publication, Aviation Operations during COVID-19 – Business Restart and Recovery, provides best practice and guidance for restarting business and the longer-term recovery.
The association had laid out principles to restart operations with the International Air Transport Association, and the new publication goes into greater detail.
ACI World expects business to return in four phases, starting with a limited number of passengers, followed by a slow increase in numbers, and then a scale-up in capacity followed by a return to normal volumes.
Airports are not expected to abide by all the guidance, but it gives them advice to implement the most appropriate measures for their circumstances.
Angela Gittens, director general of ACI World, said, “To help airports navigate this changing landscape, this publication is intended to be a living document with chapters added or amended as additional information becomes available and each chapter can be read as a standalone document.”
