Brussels South Charleroi Airport is preparing to reopen at the beginning of June 2020.
The airport stopped commercial operations on March 24 due to airlines suspending flights as demand slumped due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Belgium’s Foreign Minister has prohibited all non-essential foreign travel but the restrictions will be assessed by the Belgian National Security Council.
Charleroi says it is in constant contact with airlines operating at the airport and estimates that commercial activities can partially resume in June.
The airport operator says the reopening date will be confirmed at a later date and needs to take into account country borders reopening and restrictions of access.
Charleroi adds that until the reopening date is made official, only health, government and maintenance flights will be operating.
