Italian airport operator SEA Group (SEA) is to use Copenhagen Optimization’s Better Airport solution at its Milano Malpensa and Milano Linate airports.
SEA will implement Better Forecast, part of the cloud-based planning solution Better Airport from Copenhagen Optimization (CopOpt). Better Airport is already in use at other international airports, including Toronto Pearson International, Bologna, Glasgow, Edinburgh, London Luton and Geneva, with additional implementations ongoing in airports such as London Heathrow, JFK Terminal 4, Copenhagen and Stansted.
SEA selected CopOpt through a competitive tender, where several forecasting solutions were trialed in a head-to-head competition.
SEA welcomed 35 million passengers in 2018 and has experienced substantial growth over the last decade, with Malpensa growing by more than 10% in 2018 alone. With Better Airport, SEA will be better able to forecast passenger developments to ensure an optimal utilization of infrastructure.
Riccardo Conti, airport operations management applications manager at SEA, said, “The Better Forecast solution was not only the most accurate in our trial but, through automation, will also be able to reduce time spent on forecasting. From the beginning we have been impressed with CopOpt’s data-driven approach to airport operations. We are looking forward to a successful and lasting collaboration.”
