The 2019 Schiphol Business Awards have been presented, honoring the most innovative achievements by Amsterdam Airport Schiphol’s business partners.
Schiphol’s food and beverage outlets were lauded for their sustainability. HMSHost International won the Innovation Award for Soup & Bakery by De Verspillingsfabriek. Aimed at tackling food waste, the concept ensures that ‘lost vegetables’ – those considered too small, the wrong shape or wrongly colored, as well as trimmings, cuttings and stalks – are not wasted but used to make soup. These soups are made by people at a disadvantage on the labor market.
The Team Spirit Award went to HMSHost International’s food professionals team, for the way in which is members share their knowledge with new coworkers. This takes place not in a classroom but at suppliers’ facilities, where employees are given the opportunity to taste, smell and experience products for themselves.
Throughout the year, mystery visits are conducted at Schiphol, with the total experience scored on customer service and service-mindedness. Avis Budget Autoverhuur won the most points in 2019, winning the Hospitality & Service Award. The Growth Award, created to recognize and celebrate the business partners with the largest financial growth, was won by Enterprise Rent-A-Car and SSP Nederland. The Connection Award for the most hospitable and welcoming employee at Schiphol went to Dalibor Stanic, an employee at Sixt.
