German firm Dermalog has developed the world’s first biometric border control system with integrated fever detection.
Dermalog has developed a special fever camera, which has been fully integrated into the entry-exit system at Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok.
The Bangkok system now not only captures fingerprints and faces, but also measures the body temperature of travelers as they stand at the border control counter. The temperature is displayed on the border officer’s screen and, if a passenger is found to have a fever, the officer is automatically informed and can send the passenger for a health check. Fever can be accurately detected at a distance of up to 1.5m (5ft), according to Dermalog.
