Fashion pioneer Zandra Rhodes is bringing her theatrical sense of style and design to California’s John Wayne Airport in a new display, ‘The Art of Opera’.
The art, available to ticketed passengers only, will be on display in the Vi Smith Concourse Gallery in Terminal A and Terminal C.
The displays will include examples of Rhodes’ conceptualized art, photos and sketches used as inspiration to design the sets and costumes for two operas – Verdi’s ‘Aïda’ and ‘The Pearl Fishers’ by Bizet (above).
“When it comes to art and culture, Orange County takes center stage through a combination of local, national and international creativity and artistry,” said county board of supervisors chairwoman Michelle Steel.
“Visitors, as well as art and fashion enthusiasts alike are sure to enjoy viewing Zandra Rhodes’ colorful, detailed opera costumes and set designs.”
