This recently released video offers a time-lapse view of work on the new terminal expansion, TEx, at Adelaide Airport in South Australia. This time-lapse runs from July to December 2019.
Adelaide is expanding its main terminal to significantly upgrade international arrivals and departures, and to create more retail and dining options for both domestic and international travelers.
The expansion will provide international passengers with a second, longer baggage belt for arrivals, more space for emigration and immigration processing, expanded security screening, a larger duty-free precinct for arrivals and departures, and expanded dining options.
Retail areas will be expanded and refurbished throughout, resulting in a more than 80% increase in the overall size of the terminal’s retail and dining precinct across domestic and international areas.
Other improvements include a new common-use premium international lounge; new VIP facilities for international arrivals and departures; relocation of the Virgin Australia Lounge; and expansion of office space for terminal tenants including airlines and regulatory agencies.
Kym Meys, executive general manager planning and infrastructure at Adelaide Airport, will tell us more about transforming Adelaide Airport at this year’s Passenger Terminal CONFERENCE. Her talk, Human spaces, people places – transforming Adelaide Airport, will be part of Day 1 of the Airport Design, Planning & Development stream. Click HERE for the full conference program.
