Students from Heathrow Primary have decorated Heathrow Airport with more than 500 handcrafted baubles and have helped to switch on almost a kilometer of Christmas lights.
More than 30 of the students delighted passengers in Terminal 2 with a Christmas carol flash performance.
The events marked the launch of Heathrow’s 2019 Christmas activity calendar, which runs until December 27 and includes craft trolleys, Santa and elf visits, gift wrapping and carols in the terminals. More than 70 Christmas trees will be on show across the airport, which expects to welcome 6,500,000 passengers in December.
“We are delighted that Heathrow Primary has been at the heart of this year’s celebration of Christmas at Heathrow. Millions of passengers from across the globe are set to pass through the airport over the festive period and we are so proud they will see decorations made with love from local talented school children,” said Heathrow community and stakeholder engagement director Rob Gray.
Heathrow has been working closely with Heathrow Primary School throughout the year, with airport volunteers providing weekly reading sessions, a careers day, an enterprise day, leadership sessions and neurodiversity sessions. The airport is committed to partnering with neighboring schools to ensure local people have access to high-quality education and careers.
