Munich Airport has unveiled an exhibition that displays the latest trends affecting how and where people live. The exhibition, which will run in Terminal 2 until the end of January, has been developed by Bayern Design – the center of competency for design sponsored by the State of Bavaria.
The Smart Living exhibition displays how smart devices are being used in intelligent houses and presents the latest trends from the internet of things (IoT), as well as concepts for innovative and sustainable neighborhoods and homes, in urban as well as rural settings.
Smart Living is the fifth exhibition in the ‘Bayern Design – Lifestyles of the Future’ series. It features a number of projects including Upside, which is a project to create a self-sufficient community in the Siebentischwald district in Augsburg. This car-free area is adapted to its natural surroundings, with open spaces set aside for agriculture and fields. Houses are built using regional materials and a sophisticated energy concept is implemented with sustainable insulation and natural heat sinks.
In the area of smart devices, another project featured in the Smart Living exhibition is the automated Roxxter vacuum cleaner by Bosch. It uses an intelligent system to keep the entire home clean. Controlled with a smartphone or tablet, the Roxxter can even respond to voice commands.
The ‘Bayern Design – Lifestyles of the Future’ series has been developed by Munich Airport’s innovation hub, LabCampus. The campus will continue to bring together companies and experts to jointly develop innovative solutions, products and services, and present them to the audience on its doorstep – the international transport hub of Munich Airport.
