Aruba Airport Authority, in collaboration with a local college, the EPI Hospitality & Tourism Unit, has held its first Aviation Cake Baking Competition.
Ten teams consisting of two EPI students each competed. The first part of the competition involved the teams spending up to two hours baking in preparation for the main competition the next day, when contestants had five hours to decorate their aviation-themed cakes.
A judging panel consisting of baking industry experts and representatives of the tourism and aviation industries selected the three best cakes. The Bronze Whisk winners (3rd place) were Jahrmael White and Requelle de Weever. The Silver Whisk winners (2nd place) were Aneudy Liriano and Garrick Tromp and the Gold Whisk winners (1st place) were Mariel Willems and Michelle Fitz Verploegh.
The event was live-streamed on the airport’s Facebook page
