Local restaurant Screen Door is to open a branch at Portland International Airport’s Concourse B in 2021.
Screen Door’s arrival at the airport is part of a new 10-year contract awarded by the Port of Portland to HMSHost and its Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) joint venture partner Palazzo Concessions. The contract is valued at approximately US$75m.
Screen Door serves southern fare with Pacific Northwest food values, emphasizing local and organic produce. This will be its first airport location and Portland travelers can expect a selection of Screen Door’s menu favorites, including its signature specialty Fried Chicken & Waffle – buttermilk battered fried chicken and a sweet potato waffle.
The new full-service restaurant will have seating for more than 100 guests and will include a bar with local craft beer and crafty cocktails, along with a convenient grab-and-go market with freshly prepared items, so that travelers can enjoy Screen Door flavors on their flight.
“We are excited to build on Portland’s long-standing relationship with HMSHost in welcoming this new and beloved local brand to the airport community,” said acting director of PDX terminal business and properties Shane Andreasen. “Screen Door is a tourist destination all in itself, and HMSHost’s ability to deliver this landmark brand directly to PDX is going to delight our travelers and expand our distinctively Portland sense of place for years to come.”
