Nine new retail shops and restaurants are to open at Portland International Airport, seven in summer 2020 and the remaining two in spring 2021, as part of the upgrade to Concourse B.
The new concessions will offer Portland’s best local products and flavors mixed with emerging and recognizable regional and national brands. All Portland Airport shops and restaurants provide products at the same prices as at their off-airport locations.
To help grow small and disadvantaged businesses, the Port of Portland made some changes to the solicitation process for these spaces. As a result, the request-for-proposal was the most competitive in PDX history, with 42 proposals received from 30 businesses. When these new concessions open, 26% of the airport’s concessions will be women- and minority-owned businesses.
“We’re always looking for ways to reduce barriers to entry into our concessions program and the overwhelming response to tweaks we made in our processes was successful,” said Shane Andreasen, interim director of terminal business and properties.
“We are excited about this mix of familiar and new offerings. We focused on companies that could deliver the best customer experience possible. We also paid close attention to quality employers who appreciate the value each employee brings to the job.”
The food and beverage options include Bambuza Vietnam Kitchen, Jamba, Juliett, Tillamook, and Evergreens, which will open on Concourse E, and Good Coffee and Screen Door, which will open on Concourse B.
The new retail outlets, both on Concourse E, are Calliope, which will offer accessories and gifts, and Tender Loving Empire, which already has a store at the airport.
