St Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) in Missouri is joining more than a dozen venues across the city in a temporary piano installation.
Organized by local non-profit Make Music St. Louis, the initiative involves the installation of pianos across the city in the run-up to the international Make Music Day celebrations on June 21. The airport’s piano has a custom-painted octopus theme and is located in Terminal 2, across from Gate E33.2.
Passengers of all ages and musical experience are encouraged to sit down and share their tunes on the STL Make Music Piano. The Make Music Day STL festival is a highlight of the mission for Make Music St. Louis, which is to bring the community a wide variety of music performances, events and educational projects aimed at cultivating the appreciation, taste, and love of the musical arts.
The Make Music Piano at STL is sponsored by Jackson Pianos. Passengers will be able to play it until Labor Day holiday week, at the beginning of September.
The airport recently introduced its own permanent ‘Play Me’ piano in Terminal 1, at the Aero stage across from Starbucks, as part of the Lambert Art & Culture Program.
