Thyssenkrupp Elevator, a passenger boarding bridges (PBBs) and intelligent gate systems provider, will operate and maintain 90 PBBs at Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar. The contract includes the operation of one VIP boarding bridge exclusively used by the Qatar royal family and senior government officials.
The service contract also includes the operation and maintenance of more than 500 aircraft support units. Thyssenkrupp Elevator has already installed 391 units including 234 elevators, 105 escalators, and 52 moving walks at Hamad.
“We are delighted to further expand our cooperation with Hamad International Airport and to be able to continue reducing connecting times for a large number of passengers by keeping the mobility solutions running,” says Peter Walker, CEO, Thyssenkrupp Elevator. “As the global population continues to rise and our globalized world becomes even more connected, efficient mobility of people inside airports has become a major issue of concern, making it just as important as the actual flights.”
Thyssenkrupp Elevator has been operating at Hamad since 2007, and specializes in providing elevators, escalators, moving walkways, and accessibility solutions. The company has already successfully completed several projects in Qatar, including the installation of its TWIN elevator systems in the multi-purpose Al Sultan Tower, as well as projects at Lusail Car Park and Tornado Tower.
