The Kansas City Aviation Department, the operator of Kansas City International Airport, Missouri, will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on March 25, 2019, to celebrate the commencement of critical construction activities for its new US1.5bn terminal.
The ceremony will be held at the airport’s Terminal A parking structure in the presence of city officials, airline representatives, key project partners, and labor, community, and business leaders.
The event will kickstart major infrastructure works by Edgemoor Infrastructure & Real Estate, including the interior demolition of Terminal A.
At 39 gates, and just over 1,000,000ft² (92,900m²), the new terminal is the largest infrastructure project in Kansas City’s history and will have a profound and lasting economic impact on the region in form of new jobs, opportunities for local and small businesses, and a first-class traveler experience for airport users.
The project is projected to generate up to 5,000 construction-related jobs.
