Pittsburgh International Airport has launched its own in-house news service to communicate the latest news and travel information from the facility that employs more than 6,000 and serves nearly 9 million passengers annually.
At www.blueskyPIT.com, readers will find behind-the-scenes features from inside the terminal, on the airfield and in the aviation community. Staff – many of whom are former journalists – along with freelance journalists will detail stories behind the scenes of airport operations.
Christina Cassotis, airport CEO, said, “This is naturally the next step in the airport’s evolution as a world-leader in aviation. We want to communicate directly with travelers and the public, unfiltered.
“As the traditional media landscape continues to change, we want to be at the forefront of sharing the latest news and really taking people behind-the-scenes on why and how the airport has made so much progress during the past three years. This is about informing the public with real news stories like any other media outlet.”
Blue Sky Executive editor Paul O’Rourke commented, “It will be conveyed in the stories of passengers and in the dedication of employees and partners, who are committed to propelling our airports, our organization and our region forward.”
BlueSkyPIT.com’s goal is to break news, offer insider perspective and inform the public about the strategy behind airport decisions. In addition to new content posted regularly on the homepage, Blue Sky will send a weekly email
