Bristol Airport has come out on top of a punctuality league created by analytics firm OAG. It achieved an on-time performance (OTP) rating of 94.4% in a league table of 20 small airports, with passenger traffic of less than 10 million per annum. In second place was Brussels South Charleroi Airport in Belgium with 93.1%.
The small airport category featured two other British airports in the top 20 – London Luton and Birmingham in 10th and 18th place respectively. However, there was no room for London Gatwick or London Heathrow in the 20 million plus, large airport category.
“There are no large or medium sized UK airports, reflecting the urgent need for more capacity, particularly in the South East of England,” said OAG. “We can only hope that 2015 will bring some long awaited decisions from the UK Airports Commission.”
OAG is a British-based company that has access to the flight schedules of over 900 airlines and 4,000 airports. It defines its OTP for an airport as having been within 15 minutes of the scheduled arrival or departure time.
