Airport operator Fraport has reopened the newly renovated Food Plaza today in Terminal 2 (T2) at Frankfurt Airport in Germany. The redesign and renovation project took seven months to complete and includes the addition of two new food and beverage concepts, as well as a newly renovated McDonald’s restaurant.
Located on Level 4 of T2, the plaza now features the largest McDonald’s restaurant in Europe with seating for up to 650 travelers. The flagship outlet also includes a McCafé and children’s playground. The renovations have meant that digital menu boards and easy-order terminals are now located throughout, and table service will be offered for the first time in Germany.
Dr Stefan Schulte, executive board chairman, Fraport, said, “We are particularly honored that McDonald’s is launching its new concept here at Frankfurt Airport. After all, we can look back on the successful partnership with McDonald’s that has evolved and flourished for more than two decades. Together, we are starting a new chapter at Germany’s largest international aviation hub.”
Holger Beeck, chairman of McDonald’s Germany, said, “We are very pleased to be reopening our fourth location at Frankfurt Airport. This restaurant is particularly special for us because it launches our future direction here in Germany. Our new flagship restaurant at Frankfurt Airport serves as the showcase for the new world of McDonald’s.”
The two new restaurants appearing alongside the new McDonalds concept include an Italian-style restaurant called Vito and an outlet named Ludwigs that serves German specialties.
