Kadapa Airport in Andhra Pradesh, India, has been officially reopened with the arrival of its first commercial Air Pegasus flight from Bengaluru on June 7, 2015.
An inauguration ceremony was held to celebrate the opening, which was attended by Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu, chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, and Shri P Ashok Gajapathi Raju, union minister of civil aviation. Several other ministers and members of parliament were also in attendance.
Airports Authority of India (AAI) constructed the new terminal building and runway at a reported investment of INR42 crore (US$6.6m). The terminal is able to process up to 100 passengers per hour at peak times and its apron can accommodate three ATR-72 turboprop aircraft.
