Auckland Airport in New Zealand will provide a new duty free shopping experience for passengers when it welcomes international retailers Aer Rianta International and LS Travel Retail Pacific on June 29.
Aer Rianta International will trade as The Loop Duty Free and LS Travel Retail Pacific will trade as Aelia Duty Free. Selected in February 2015 following the completion of an international tender process, the retailers will be Auckland Airport’s two main duty free operators, replacing the existing operators DFS and JR Duty Free.
Richard Barker, Auckland Airport’s general manager, retail and commercial, said, “Auckland Airport is committed to providing passengers with a shopping experience that represents the very best of New Zealand and the world.
“The Loop and Aelia will be introducing exciting new local and international brands to the airport. In time, these will be complemented by a wide range of new stores once Auckland Airport completes the expansion of its international departure area in late 2017.
“We are committed to ensuring that a comprehensive range of duty free products are available for passengers to purchase at the terminal during the month it will take to transition to The Loop and Aelia.”
Matthieu Mercier, CEO, LS Travel Retail Pacific, said, “Our Aelia Duty Free concept, tailored specifically for Auckland Airport, will offer innovative ideas and see many firsts for the airport. Our vision to intrigue, experience and indulge will form the backbone of our new store, with customers able to try before they buy – everything from chocolate and fragrance to liquor.”
Jack MacGowan, Aer Rianta International CEO, added, “We are very much looking forward to bringing our innovative retail offer to Auckland Airport, providing travelers with an award-winning shopping experience in store as well as online.”
