District, a modern bar located pre-security at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport’s Terminal A in Virginia, USA, has opened this week. In conjunction with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, MarketPlace Development and OTG, the opening is part of a complete transformation currently underway at the terminal.
“We are thrilled to bring travelers this new pre-security experience. The modern space offers a great place for guests to spend time with family and friends before flying,” said Rick Blatstein, CEO, OTG.
“It also serves as a wonderful first impression upon arriving at the terminal. Fresh food, sleek design and the latest tech create a sense that something new and exciting is taking place.”
The menu features seasonal items with a focus on fresh, local ingredients from area farms including Kreider and Esbenshade Farms. The 690ft² venue features red lacquered walls and walnut wood bands interwoven with accent lighting strips, while tufted Ferrari-inspired leather bar stools seat guests. Each seat also features a charging station and OTG’s award-winning iPad platform Flo, which keeps guests at ease by connecting them to real-time flight information, language support and complimentary internet.
“This is just beginning,” stated Paul McGinn, president of MarketPlace Development. “Over the next few months we look forward to a complete transformation of the passenger experience in Reagan National’s Terminal A.”
“With the opening of the District, our passengers and guests will experience the first concessions component of the transformation of Terminal A – an exceptional blend of quality, style and service,” added Steve Baker, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority vice president for customer and concessions development.
In the coming months, the Airports Authority, MarketPlace and OTG will continue to introduce a state-of-the-art tech- and culinary-rich guest experience.
