London Gatwick Airport has unveiled its plans to open Grain Store Café & Bar in its South Terminal this fall. The restaurant is the first offshoot of Chef Bruno Loubet and The Zetter Group’s award-winning Grain Store restaurant in King’s Cross, London.
Gatwick’s Grain Store will be operated by Australia-based restaurateur Airport Retail Enterprises (ARE) and will be designed by Russell Sage Studio, creator of iconic restaurants including The Savoy Grill, Quaglino’s and the original Grain Store.
It will feature a completely new family-friendly all-day menu, specially created with airport travelers in mind. The menu will feature fresh and organic vegetables, and fish and meat sourced from local British producers. The restaurant will also have a new and exclusive breakfast menu created by Loubet, as well as a bar serving cocktails, premium wines, and unique non-alcoholic drinks and smoothies.
Mark Sainsbury, co-owner of The Zetter Group, said, “We are very excited about this new project with ARE and Gatwick. Grain Store really has challenged the orthodox that meat and fish should be center stage; vegetables are the stars of our show, and we are excited to bring Grain Store’s award-winning approach to food to new audiences. This is Bruno cooking what he loves best, and now travelers at the airport can enjoy a delicious and healthy meal before flying.”
Charlotte Christiansen, business development manager, Gatwick Airport, said, “Gatwick is absolutely thrilled to be Grain Store’s first opening following their flagship restaurant in King’s Cross. As part of our ongoing transformation of Gatwick’s retail and restaurants, we’ve been working tirelessly to attract brands that reflect what our passengers want and need. This is a perfect example of our work paying off. We’re looking forward to welcoming the first passengers through the door and showcasing the renowned cooking talents of Bruno Loubet.”
John Butts, director of ARE (UK), said, “We are delighted to be partnering with Grain Store and Gatwick Airport in this, our first operation in the UK. Grain Store is a unique and groundbreaking concept and we are immensely proud to be bringing this to one of the world’s great airports.”
