Munich Airport in Germany has deployed a new vehicle known as the Medical High Loader to assist passengers with reduced mobility when boarding aircraft.
The 21-ton high-tech vehicle is capable of carrying 15 travelers at a time and can be raised or lowered en route, speeding up the passenger boarding process. It is also capable of being lowered sideways, allowing passengers to board and disembark at ground level.
The new vehicle is one of four ordered by Aicher Ambulanz, the operator responsible for supporting passengers with mobility limitations at the airport. The new lifts will be deployed on the ramps of both terminals, and are suitable for all aircraft types. Munich Airport’s Mobility Service helps an average of 630 passengers per day to enjoy barrier-free travel to and from Munich Airport.
