Passenger numbers at Dublin Airport in Ireland grew by 1.5 million for the first six months of 2015, a 15% increase compared with the first half of 2014. The figure is more than three times the 4.5% average growth rate of European airports for the same period.
The figures supplied by ACI Europe show that Dublin was the fourth best performing airport in Europe in its 10 to 25 million passenger category, behind Athens with 23.5%, London Stansted with 16.9%, and Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen with 16.6% growth.
Vincent Harrison, managing director, Dublin Airport, said, “Our passenger numbers have grown very strongly in the first six months of this year, and we’re outperforming almost all of our European peers. Dublin Airport’s strong growth is due to the combination of 22 new services for this year and extra flights and seat capacity on a large number of existing routes from Dublin.”
