Concession operator MarketPlace Development is holding an official opening ceremony on August 27, 2015, to mark the completion of its food and retail renovation program for Terminal B at LaGuardia Airport in New York.
Over the past year, MarketPlace Development has added several new specialty retail outlets including America!, Desigual, Duty Free Americas/L’Occitane, Eddie Bauer, Lacoste, Lick, InMotion Entertainment, Ruby Blue and Tumi. The operator has also expanded dining options in the terminal with the introduction of Bowery Bay Tavern, Piccolo Mercato, Six Blocks Bakery, Sorrentine, Villa Pizza Kitchen, and a recent remodeling of all Au Bon Pain locations.
In addition to the stores and restaurants, several amenities and services were added or upgraded to meet the needs of passengers. The Centurion Lounge from American Express (Amex) was opened for use by Amex cardholders, and Bank of America ATMs were introduced throughout for convenient cash access. Both food courts are scheduled to be refurbished later this year and will offer free charging points for passengers’ mobile devices.
Paul McGinn, president for MarketPlace Development, said, “We’re pleased to announce that our redevelopment project in Terminal B is coming to fruition. The upgrades we’ve made in our food and shops program will offer passengers better options and a more comfortable experience in the aging building, as they wait for the new terminal to be built.”
Lysa Scully, general manager, LaGuardia Airport, said, “The upgrades to the food and shops program at Terminal B invigorates the retail atmosphere by providing our passengers with access to superior shops and dining options. While the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey continues to move forward with modernizing LaGuardia Airport, such improvements also foster economic growth and spur job creation within the airport.”
