Passenger Terminal World magazine has opened the nominations for the Design Challenge 2016 – an exclusive biennial terminal seating design competition that will enable current and future designers to showcase their ideas to an international audience.
As part of Design Challenge 2016, the magazine is looking for university students and companies specializing in furniture design to come up with innovative and next-generation concepts for airport seating designs that could change the way seating is developed in the future.
Entrants should not have previously worked in the airport environment.
A judging panel from some of the leading airport seating design companies across the globe will then decide on their top entries, considering factors such as aesthetics, features, cost, durability and environmental impact. The chosen designs will be featured in the June 2016 issue of Passenger Terminal World.
“The 2012 and 2014 Design Challenge competitions were a resounding success and we are confident 2016 will be no different. The airport seating design sector is a fast-paced environment and this competition provides a great opportunity for up and coming and established designers to showcase their design prowess to potential employers, as well as their peers,” said Helen Norman, editor of Passenger Terminal World. “We can’t wait to see what entrants will come up with this time!”
