ACI World unveils Aviation Benefits 2017 report

ACI World has partnered with major aviation organizations from around the globe, including IATA, ICAO, CANSO and ICCAIA, to launch its Aviation Benefits 2017 report, detailing the employment, socio-economic and consumer benefits relating to air transport capabilities.

The new joint report, aimed mainly at government leaders and national planners, contains a summarized checklist on the steps to be taken by governments to maximize these air transport benefits, as well as helpful overviews of the related investment, partnership and planning priorities, and comprehensive regional summaries of aviation’s far-reaching socio-economic impacts.

It also provides a comprehensive overview of how international aviation connectivity directly aids governments’ ongoing efforts to achieve 15 of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals adopted under the UN Agenda 2030.

Angela Gittens, director general, ACI World, said, “The Aviation Benefits report is a joint initiative that highlights the industry’s commitment to the sustainable development of aviation as tool for growth and development. Aviation and airports in particular play a vital role in the economic and social well-being of communities and local economies, providing jobs, contributing to GDPs and providing health and humanitarian aid and educational opportunities and improving overall quality of life.

“International agencies and organizations, development banks and governments can help secure and flourish such benefits by addressing our industry’s most pressing challenges including funding, financing and investment; airport development and expansion integrated transport planning; and optimizing air traffic management.”
