Departure area upgrades complete at Liverpool John Lennon Airport

Liverpool John Lennon Airport in northwest England has completed a series of improvement works totaling nearly £3m (US$3.9m) as part of its plans to modernize the departure area.

The improvements involved the renovation of approximately 21,500ft2 of space in the departure lounge as well as the addition of several new shops, bars and restaurants. Other improvements include new and improved stores for existing retailers, completely new washroom facilities, large flight information screens, new seating and improved lighting to create a brighter passenger environment.

Once the summer season has finished, work will commence on the next phase of improvement works costing a further £2m (US$2.6m), which will see an expansion and redesign of the existing World Duty Free shop and improvements to other areas.

Lucy O’Shaughnessy, commercial director, Liverpool John Lennon Airport, said, “Previous investments in a number of passenger facilities at the airport have seen our customer satisfaction levels reach an all-time high.

“We believe these latest improvements have created a real ‘wow factor’ for passengers as we welcome them into the departure lounge, building on existing positive passenger feedback and further enhancing the customer experience.”
