Marriott opens Renaissance Hotel at Atlanta International Airport

Renaissance Hotels, a subsidiary of hospitality firm Marriott International, has officially opened its latest hotel at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Georgia.

The Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel, owned and developed by Grove Street Partners, is connected to the main terminal via the airport’s SkyTrain service. It features 204 stylish guest rooms, two expansive outdoor spaces, a fitness center, and New Orleans-themed restaurant – Hickory & Hazel Southern Table and Bar.

Brian Povinelli, senior vice president and global brand leader, Renaissance Hotels, said, “With its ‘business unusual’ mantra, Renaissance Hotels is all about taking the business out of travel, so we are thrilled to introduce Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel to one of the busiest airports in the world. From the hotel’s artful design to its engaging experiences, Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel definitely defies the conventions of business travel today.”

The hotel has been designed by Texas-based architect Rottet Studio and includes artwork by Atlanta natives such as Ryan Coleman, Matt Herbermehl and Sarah Emerson. From a whimsical porch swing to digital art projections and larger-than-life murals, the hotel helps create a sense of place even before guests check in.

Lauren Rottet, founding principal, Rottet Studio, said, “Design aesthetics throughout the hotel embody a high-low theme intermixing raw materials such as concrete ceilings with polished materials like walnut wood, and peppered with playful unexpected moments of discovery inspired by the Renaissance brand.”

The new hotel also offers 6,290ft2 of event space, divided between the Alpha, Bravo, Foxtrot and Echo meeting rooms, as well as the Tango Ballroom complete with terrace.

Donelle Zunker, general manager, Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel, said, “Every aspect of the new Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel has been designed specifically for business travelers who may have 20 minutes, two hours or two days in Atlanta, and want to leave with surprising discoveries and a taste of this city’s dynamic culture. We are delighted to welcome global travelers to experience Atlanta through our Business Unusual lens and offer an inviting alternative to staid airport lounges.”
