Construction of Changi Airport Terminal 4 complete

Changi Airport Group (CAG) in Singapore has completed the main structure of its new passenger building, Terminal 4.

The Temporary Occupancy Permit for T4 was achieved earlier this month, marking the end of the construction phase. The next stage will involve the interior fittings and readying the terminal for operations.

Located at the southern end of Changi Airport, construction on the new terminal began in 2014, set over two storys, with two multi-story car parks providing 1,700 spaces, a two-story taxi holding area, vehicular and pedestrian bridges, plus a new 68-meter-high control tower. At its peak, the process involved 4,000 workers.

Terminal 4 is expected to open in 2017. Its design is said to focus on the experience of the passenger, making the check-in and boarding process fast and seamless.

Yam Kum Weng, CAG’s executive vice president, air hub development, said, “We thank all of our partners and contractors for their contributions towards the successful completion of the terminal’s construction, while achieving a clean safety record of 26.1 million accident-free man hours. For the next phase, we look forward to working with the airport community to prepare the terminal for opening in the second half of 2017.”
