This week Dubai International Airport launched a new baggage rule that will see all bags without flat surfaces rejected at check-in. Such luggage was sited by the airport as being the main source of system jamming (full story here). Passenger Terminal World asks...

Should more airports reject luggage without flat surfaces?

Yes, it's unacceptable that someone's choice of luggage should cause delays for other passengers.
No, travelers should be free to choose whatever luggage they want. It's the responsibility of the airport to adopt a system that can cater for such luggage.
It depends on the airport and whether they also have problems with round or oversized luggage.
